KimPetrasPaintings is a variable-geometry collective founded in 2020 by Jimmy Beauquesne, Nelson Bourrec Carter, Paul Garcin, Camille Juthier, Aurore Leduc and Ugo Ballara. Formed out of solidarity and necessity, the group questions the figure of the isolated individual in contemporary art, proposing instead a shared practice that redistributes authorship and visibility.
Centered on the figure of Kim Petras, a German transgender pop singer building her career in the United States, the collective explores popular culture, queer identity and the uses of fan art as both a sentimental and political practice. For KPP, fan art operates as a contemporary ex-voto: profane, intimate, and collective. It mobilizes desire, projection and devotion while questioning our relationship to stars and what they reveal about subjectivity, normativity and power. Kim Petras functions as a critical prism, embodying queer transformation while reworking the iconography of pop culture. Bringing together LGBTQIA2+ artists across diverse media, KPP invents hybrid, shifting forms where community and artistic research converge.
